For labs and clinics
Gas exchange, wherever you test.
VenTracer is being built for sports-science labs, coaches and longevity clinics who want measured VO2max and thresholds without a cart. Here is what to expect and how we will prove it.
In practice
Built around how you already test.
Take the lab outside.
Test on the track, the court, the water or at altitude, in the sport the athlete actually does.
Check it against your cart.
Pilot labs run VenTracer alongside their own reference system, so you can judge agreement for yourselves.
Every breath, exportable.
Time, flow, gas fractions and derived values per breath, ready for your own analysis tools.PRELIM
Short set-up, many athletes.
A fit-and-seal check and a room-air reference before each test, then straight into the protocol.PRELIM
No dedicated lab needed.
A mask, a phone or tablet, and a bike or treadmill. Useful wherever VO2max is part of a fitness consult.
Readable by athletes and clients.
VO2max, thresholds, zones and fuel mix in a report you can hand over the same day.
The partnership
What you get, and what we ask.
Terms are agreed with each partner before any unit ships. This is what we expect them to cover.PRELIM
- Units
- Engineering units and a mask fit kit, before anyone else. You get
- Support
- Direct access to the engineering team during your tests. You get
- Data
- Raw breath-by-breath export from every session you run. You get
- Methods
- A say in protocols and analysis before the study design is fixed, and acknowledgement in the publication. You get
- Side by side
- Tests run with VenTracer and your own reference system on the same athletes. We ask
- Time
- A set of sessions over a few months, scheduled around your lab. We ask
- Agreement
- A data agreement covering consent, anonymisation and publication. We ask
- Feedback
- Honest notes on fit, workflow and anything that gets in the way. We ask

We'll prove it before we claim it.
Accuracy claims wait for data. Here is the plan we will be held to.3
- Reference
- A laboratory metabolic cart, tested on the same athletes. Planned
- Protocol
- Rest, then an incremental ramp to exhaustion. Planned
- Statistics
- Bland–Altman bias and limits of agreement, plus intraclass correlation. Planned
- Thresholds
- VT1 and VT2 compared with thresholds picked from the cart by experienced physiologists. Planned
- Publication
- Full results published before any accuracy figure appears on this page. Committed
What VenTracer can't do (yet)
- We haven't published validation data. Until we do, treat readings from early units as experimental.
- Thresholds need a proper ramp test. Short or broken-up sessions may not show a clear VT2.
- A leaking mask makes the numbers wrong. The app will check the seal before every test.
- It isn't a medical device and can't diagnose anything.4

Engineering prototypes
First working analyzers on the bench and on athletes.

Validation pilot
Engineering units tested side by side with partner labs' reference systems.
- After validation
Wider pilot
Units for coaches, athletes and clinics, once results are published.
Become a validation partner.
We are looking for a small number of labs and clinics to test early units against their own reference equipment.
