Product

An analyzer that rides on your breath.

A compact gas and flow analyzer on a breath-through tube, held to a silicone mask by a five-point harness. No hoses, no backpack, no cart.

VenTracer in side profile: mask, five-point harness and the analyzer on its flow tube

The design

Breath goes straight through.

A compact analyzer rides on a low-resistance flow tube in front of your mouth. Nothing hangs off your back, and nothing tethers you to a cart.

  1. A
    Open flow tube

Every inhale and exhale passes through it, so every breath is counted.

  2. B
    On-mask analyzer

Gas, flow and computing live in one sealed body above the tube.

  3. C
    Five-point harness

Designed to hold a gas-tight seal from a warm-up jog to a maximal sprint.

Inside the analyzer

Six parts, one sealed system.

Scroll to take VenTracer apart, from the mask port outward.

  1. 01
    AirSeal port lock

Locks the analyzer to the mask and keeps the joint gas-tight.

  2. 02
    Breath flow sensor

A low-resistance tube that measures every inhale and exhale.

  3. 03
    Dual-gas breath core

Reads oxygen and carbon dioxide on every breath.

  4. 04
    On-mask compute and wireless

Turns gas and flow into VO2 and streams it live.

  5. 05
    Rechargeable power cell

Supervised power with a fast cut-off if anything runs out of spec.

  6. 06
    Front housing

Protects the stack and carries the breathing port and mark.

How VenTracer works, in 90 seconds.

From the number on your watch to measured gas exchange, what's inside the analyzer, and how thresholds become training zones.

TranscriptRead the narration

Your watch shows you a VO₂max number. But it's an estimate, worked out from your heart rate and pace. In a lab, VO₂max is measured, from the oxygen you breathe in and the carbon dioxide you breathe out. That means a cart, a hose, and a treadmill you can't leave. VenTracer puts that measurement on your face. A compact analyzer rides on an open flow tube, right in front of your mouth. Every breath passes straight through it. No hoses. No backpack. Inside, a flow sensor measures the volume of every breath. A dual-gas core reads oxygen and carbon dioxide. And an on-mask processor combines them, breath by breath. Air goes in at about 21% oxygen, and comes back out with less. That difference, multiplied by how much air you move, is your oxygen uptake. On a ramp test, oxygen uptake climbs steadily. Carbon dioxide doesn't. It breaks upward at two points: your ventilatory thresholds. They set your training zones. Results stream to the app while you test. When you stop, you get your VO₂max, both thresholds, and zones you can train by the same day. VenTracer is still in development. We'll test it side by side with a lab cart, and publish the results before we claim any accuracy. VenTracer. Trace every breath.

Outputs and specifications

Six outputs, all from measured gas exchange.

ml/kg/min

VO2max

Your aerobic ceiling: the most oxygen your body can take in and use.

W · bpm · pace

VT1 and VT2

Training zones anchored to your own physiology, not a formula. How thresholds are found.

VCO2 / VO2

RER and fuel mix

Estimated fat and carbohydrate use at steady-state intensities below VT2.

L/min

Ventilation

How much air you move, with breathing rate and tidal volume.

kcal/min

Energy expenditure

Calories burned, calculated from VO2 and VCO2.

Every breath stored for your coach or lab to review.

The app

From first breath to training zones.

VenTracer streams every breath to your phone. You watch the test live, get the report as soon as you stop, and leave with zones you can train by the same day.

Concept app screens with simulated data.2

  1. Fit and seal checkabout 1 min

The app checks the mask seal and the room-air reference before you start.

  2. Warm up5–10 min

Easy effort while breathing settles and the analyzer stabilises.

  3. Ramp8–12 min

Power or pace rises in steps until you can't hold it. Every breath is recorded.

  4. Reportwhen you stop

VO₂max, VT1, VT2, intensity zones and an estimated fuel mix, ready to share with your coach.

Fit and care

Made to be worn hard and cleaned often.

A breath analyzer is only as good as its seal. The mask, harness and flow tubes are designed to stay gas-tight at maximal effort and to come apart for cleaning between athletes.

Mask

Soft silicone, several sizes.

An oronasal mask with a flexible lip that seals on the face, not the nose bridge alone. Sizes to be confirmed in fit testing.PRELIM

Harness

Five points of contact.

Crown, temple and neck straps spread the load, designed so the seal holds above 100 litres a minute.

Flow tubes

Sized for the effort.

Interchangeable tubes for rest and for maximal efforts, so resistance stays low and readings stay in range.PRELIM

Port lock

Twist on, twist off.

The analyzer locks to the mask port with a quarter turn. No tools, and no loose hose joints to leak.

Hygiene

Wipe the analyzer, wash the mask.

Parts that touch breath are designed to be removed and disinfected between users. Cleaning instructions will ship with pilot units.PRELIM

Status

One light, one button.

A single status light shows power, link and warm-up. Everything else lives in the app.
